Bone, James (1872–1962)

Scottish journalist. He went to London to work on the Manchester Guardian in 1901 and was London editor of paper from 1912 to 1945, becoming a director in 1919.

He was born in Glasgow and began work as a shipping clerk at the age of 14, writing as a freelance journalist in his spare time.
