Bonham

City and administrative headquarters of Fannin County in northeastern Texas, 105 km/65 mi northeast of Dallas; population (1990) 6,700. It is a trade and manufacturing centre in a prairie area raising cotton, vegetables, and beef cattle. Petrol pumps, lawnmowers, cheese, cables, and mattresses are manufactured.

Sam Rayburn (died here in 1961), former speaker of the US House of Representatives, is honoured by his hometown with a memorial library.
