Boniface of Savoy (died 1270)

English cleric, a Carthusian, archbishop of Canterbury from 1241, enthroned in 1249. His reforms met with strong resistance from the clergy and he retired to Rome until 1252. In 1256 he took part with the bishops against Henry III, but in 1263 he joined the papal legate in excommunicating the rebellious barons.

He was the son of Thomas of Savoy and uncle to Henry III's wife, Eleanor of Provence. He died while accompanying Edward I on a crusade.
