Bonno, Giuseppe (1711–1788)

Austrian composer of Italian extraction. He studied in Naples 1726–37, was appointed composer to the Austrian court in 1739, and succeeded Florian Gassmann as Kapellmeister in 1774.

Works

over 20 operas including Trajano (1736), Il natale di Giove (1740), Il re pastore (1751); three oratorios including Il Giuseppe riconosciuto (1774); Masses, Requiems, and other church music.
