boogie-woogie

Jazz played on the piano, using a repeated motif for the left hand. It was common in the USA from around 1900 to the 1950s. Boogie-woogie players included Pinetop Smith, Meade ‘Lux’ Lewis, and Jimmy Yancey. Rock-and-roll pianist Jerry Lee Lewis adapted the style.
