Fassl, of the Scottish Book Trust, said: "Children across the North East are in for a fascinating visit from Debi.
New research by the Book Trust found that daily reading aloud with children has decreased over the last two years - from 43 per cent of parents of young children in 2006 to just 33 per cent in 2008.
