Boothbay Harbor

Town in southwest Maine, on the Atlantic Ocean, 19 km/12 mi southeast of Brunswick; population (1990) 2,300. A popular resort, artists' retreat, and yachting and boating centre, it is supported mainly by tourism, lobstering, and fishing. Southport, Squirrel, Capitol, and other resort islands are nearby.

Boothbay was an early trading and shipping centre and seaport, and was originally part of Boothbay, from which it separated in 1889.
