Tragédie-lyrique in five acts by Jean-Philippe Rameau (libretto by L de Cahusac), written for the court of Louis XV in 1763 but not performed. Its first full performance (as a concert) was held in Paris, France, on 16 September 1964 and its first stage performance was in Aix-en-Provence, France, on 21 July 1982. In the story Queen Alphise wants to marry Abaris, but must marry a descendant of Boreas, god of the north wind. After she gives up the throne and suffers the wrath of Boreas, Abaris is revealed to be related to the god, and the couple marry.
