Borger

City in northwest Texas, near the Canadian River, 72 km/45 mi northeast of Amarillo; population (2000) 14,300. Borger boomed suddenly in 1926 when the Panhandle oilfield was opened, and had 40,000 residents at one time. Products include chemicals, ink, synthetic rubber, and carbon black, and the area raises cattle.

Frank Phillips College (1948) is here. The Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument is to the southwest.
