borzoiBreed of large dog originating in Russia. It is of the greyhound type, white with darker markings, with a thick, silky coat, and stands 75 cm/30 in or more at the shoulder. The borzoi's original quarry was hares and foxes, but it was selectively bred in the 19th century to produce a larger, stronger dog suitable for hunting wolves. How to thank TFD for its existence?
