Boucherville

City in southern Québec, Canada, on the southeast bank of the St Lawrence River, 14 km/9 mi northeast of Montréal, to which it is linked by the LaFontaine Bridge-Tunnel (opened in 1965); population (1991) 33,800. Formerly a centre for market gardening, food canning, and clothing manufacture, since 1965 it has grown as a residential suburb, with some industry.

The city was founded in 1668. The Iles de Boucherville, a chain of islands, form a recreational area in the river.
