Boulevard Solitude

Opera by Hans Werner Henze (libretto by the composer and G Weil), first produced in Hanover, Germany, on 17 February 1952. The plot is a modern version of the Manon story: the lovers Manon and Armand are forced apart by poverty when she must take a rich admirer to support herself and her brother.
