Boullée, Etienne-Louis

    0.10 sec.

Boullée, Etienne-Louis (1728-1799)

French neoclassical architect. Although he built very little, he was a major influence on the architecture of his day, and his austere, visionary works have influenced late 20th-century architects such as the Italian Aldo Rossi. Boullée's abstract, geometric style is exemplified in his design for a spherical monument to the scientist Isaac Newton, 150 m/500 ft high.
