Bound Brook

Bound Brook

Town in north-central New Jersey, on the Raritan River, 11 km/7 mi northwest of New Brunswick; population (1990) 9,500. Products include chemicals, roofing materials, plastics, textiles, clothing, and metal products. Bound Brook is also known for its greenhouses, which produce and ship orchids and gardenias.

It was settled in 1681 on land purchased from the Raritan Indians. American troops were defeated by the forces of the British general Charles Cornwallis here in April 1777, during the American Revolution.
