Bourbonnais

Town in northeastern Illinois, a residential suburb 3 km/2 mi northwest of Kankakee; population (1990) 13,900. It is the seat of Olivet Nazarene University (1907). Kankakee River State Park is to the northwest.

Originally a French-Canadian trading post settled in 1832, Bourbonnais was bypassed by the Illinois Central Railroad because of a land-promoting scheme in what became Kankakee.
