Bowdon

Residential area in Greater Manchester, England; population (2001) 11,900. It is adjacent to Altrincham, in Cheshire. Bowdon has a number of 19th-century villas, and its parish church was built in 1858. Bowdon was the birthplace in 1879 of the composer John Ireland.
