Bowersock, Glen (Warren) (1936– )| US classicist and historian. Bowerstock became professor at the School of Historical Studies, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton in 1980. In works like Greek Sophists in the Roman Empire (1969) and Roman Arabia (1983), he examined areas and epochs previously neglected. His Hellenism in Late Antiquity won the James H Breasted Prize in 1992. |
