Boys Town

Small town in east-central Nebraska, 13 km/8 mi west of Omaha; population (1990) 800. It was founded in 1917 as a community for troubled and homeless boys by Father Edward J Flanagan, and incorporated in 1936. It is now (since 1979) a coeducational, Catholic-run nonsectarian community, governed by the resident young people.

Boys Town has several branches throughout the USA and is largely supported by private charitable contributions.

Is Chicago's largest gay neighborhood, Boystown, more or less integrated than the rest of the city?
The Matthew Shepherd Walk, which drew about 400 people last year, has always taken place in Boystown.
The youngsters, all in their early to mid-teens, are being held at the Boystown camp in Nebraska after the Irish courts ruled they can't be cared for here.
