Boyzone

Irish boy band. Created by Irish manager Louis Walsh in 1993, the line-up consisted of singers Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately, and Mikey Graham. At first they concentrated on producing interpretations of previously released pop material, but the band, and in particular Keating, went on to develop their own compositions. Their debut single, ‘Love Me for a Reason’, went to number two in the UK charts, and they went on to have six UK number one singles, including ‘Words’ (1996) and ‘No Matter What’ (1998), before disbanding in 1999.
