Brač

Island in the Adriatic Sea, 19 km/12 mi off the coast of Croatia; area 35 sq km/14 sq mi; population (1991) 13,800. Brac lies opposite the Croatian port of Split. It is the largest of the islands off the Dalmatian coast. The island is mountainous, and has several settlements, the most important of which are Supetar and Milna. The main agricultural products are figs, olives, almonds, grapes, and honey, and industries include fishing, marble quarrying, and wine production.
