Bradwell, Myra (1831–1894)

US lawyer and editor. Bradwell originally studied law to help her lawyer husband. Although she passed the bar exam in 1869, she was denied admission. In 1868, she established the pioneer weekly newspaper Chicago Legal News. As a result of her own campaigning for equal professional rights for women, Bradwell was finally admitted to the bar in 1892.
