Brahma Samaj

Indian monotheistic religious movement, founded in 1830 in Calcutta (now Kolkata) by Ram Mohun Roy, who attempted to recover the simple worship of the Vedas and purify Hinduism. The movement had split into a number of sects by the end of the 19th century and is now almost defunct.
