Braithwaite, Lilian (1873-1948)

English actor. She had a long career on the London stage and was outstanding in modern comedy. Among her parts were Margaret Fairfield in Clemence Dane's Bill of Divorcement (1921), Florence Lancaster in Noël Coward's The Vortex (1924), and the eccentric Abbey Brewster in Joseph Kesselring's Arsenic and Old Lace (1942). She was made a DBE in 1943.
