Brama

Brama

Genus of large brightly coloured marine bony fish. They are widely distributed in the Mediterranean, British waters, and the western Atlantic. Brama feed mainly on small shoaling fish and cephalopods, such as squid.

Ray's bream B. brama, is up to 50 cm/20 in long, deep blue in colour, with a long forked tail.

Classification

Brama is in the Bramidae family, order Perciformes (perchlike fish), class Osteichthyes.
