intellectual capital

Intellectual material, such as knowledge, intellectual property, and information, that can be used to create wealth. Intellectual capital is often associated with the concepts of knowledge workers and knowledge management. Intellectual capital is often divided into three categories: human capital; customer capital; and structural capital. Human capital is implicit knowledge, the knowledge contained within employees' heads. Customer capital involves recognizing the value of relationships between companies and their customers. Structural capital is knowledge retained within the organization that can be passed on to new employees.
