Brandts-Buys, Jan (1868–1933)

Dutch composer. He won a state prize as a youth and studied in Frankfurt, Germany. Most of his operatic successes were produced in Germany and Austria.

Das Veilchenfest (Berlin, 1909), Le Carillon, Die Schneider von Schoenau (Dresden, 1916), Der Eroberer (Dresden, 1918), Mi-carême, Der Mann im Mond (1922), Traumland, Ulysses.

Oberon Romancero for orchestra; three piano concertos; suite for strings, harp and horn.

string quartets; quintet for flute and strings; piano trios; piano works.
