Bratby, John (1928–1992)
| English painter. He was one of the leading exponents of the ‘kitchen sink’ school of the 1950s whose work concentrated on working-class domestic life. He also wrote and illustrated his own novels, for example Breakdown (1960), which had a similar bold energy of style. |
