Braunau am Inn

Austrian town in the province of Upper Austria, situated on the border with the German Land of Bavaria, 92 km/57 mi west of Linz; population (1995) 17,600. Braunau was the birthplace of the German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. The town contains several Gothic churches, and in its industrial suburb has the largest aluminium plant in Austria.
