Brawley

City in southern California, 16 km/10 mi south of the Salton Sea; population (1990) 18,900. It is the trade and shipping centre for an extensively irrigated agricultural area in which cattle, grain, cantaloupe melons, lettuce, and cotton are raised.

The Imperial Valley Rodeo and Brawley Cattle Call in November is a major local event.
