Brazoria County

County in southern Texas, in the Coastal Plain, on the Gulf of Mexico; area 3,644 sq km/1,407 sq mi; population (1990) 191,700. Its capital is Angleton. Oil, natural gas, salt, and magnesium are among the products of its large chemical industry. Grains, vegetables, fruit, cotton, dairy cattle, and livestock are raised. The Brazosport industrial area is in the south; suburbs of Houston are in the north.

The county is drained by the Brazos and San Bernard rivers. The coast has beaches and the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge.
