Pen y Fan, one of the major peaks or beacons that give the South Wales National Park its name, the Brecon Beacons. The mountain rises to a height of 886 m/2,907 ft above sea level and towers over Neuadd reservoir. It is a popular challenge for climbers from all over the UK.

The Brecon Beacons, a national park in South Wales covering 1,432 sq km/553 sq mi and established in 1957. The ‘Beacons’ are three main peaks rising to around 900 m/2,950 ft above sea level: Pen y Fan, Corn Du, and Cribyn.

Group of mountains in the south of Powys, central Wales. Pen y Fan (885 m/2,904 ft) and Corn Du (873 m/2,864 ft) are the major peaks. It is the highest mountain mass of Old Red Sandstone in the British Isles. The area is designated as a National Park. There is a mountain centre near Defynog.
