Brehm, Alvin (1925– )

US composer, conductor, and double bass player. He studied at the Juilliard School, New York, with Wallingford Riegger. As a soloist he performed with such groups as the Contemporary Chamber Ensemble (1969–73), the Group for Contemporary Music (1971–73), and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (1984–89); he has also led modern music as a conductor, from 1947.

Works

concertina for violin and strings (1975), piano concerto (1977), sextet for piano and wind quintet (1984), tuba concerto (1982).
