Bremond, Henri (1865–1933)

French critic. His main work is the 11-volume Histoire littéraire du sentiment religieux en France/A Literary History of Religious Thought in France (1916–32).

Other works include L'Inquiétude religieuse/Religious Anxiety (1901), Newman/The Mystery of Newman (1905), Apologie pour Fénelon/Apology for Fénelon (1910), Pour le Romantisme/For Romanticism (1923), De la Poésie pure/Concerning Pure Poetry (1926), and Prière et poésie/Prayer and Poetry (1927).

Bremond was a Jesuit for many years but left the order in 1904 to become a secular priest.
