Bretton Woods Reform Organization

Pressure group on international economics, formed 1991 to campaign for International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank accountability to its clients, and to devise and implement alternatives to IMF policies.

BWRO's alternative structural-adjustment programmes were implemented from 1993 in Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, India, and the Philippines. BWRO does not support the export of primary resources nor cultivation of cash crops at the expense of traditional food production, preferring tourism and select international services. Several BWRO staff have worked for the IMF, including Grenadian executive director Davison Budhoo.
