Brewer, David J (Josiah) (1837–1910)

US Supreme Court justice. President Benjamin Harrison nominated him to the US Supreme Court 1890–1910, where he strictly adhered to the limits of federal power as outlined in the US Constitution.

He was born in Smyrna (now Izmir), Turkey. His American missionary parents brought him to the USA at age one.
