Briegel, Wolfgang Carl (1626-1712)

German composer. He was organist at Schweinfurt and Gotha and from 1671 to his death was music director at Darmstadt. He wrote operas and ballets, sacred works for several voices including seven cantatas, Evangelische Gespräch and Evangelischer Blumengarten (1660-81), pieces for three and four instruments, convivial and funeral songs for several voices, and hymns.
