Briseis

In Greek mythology, a captive of Achilles. Agamemnon stole her from him, thus starting the feud which is the central theme of the Iliad.

She became the unfaithful heroine of several poems, the name being changed in Boccaccio to Griselda, in Chaucer to Criseyde, and in Shakespeare to Cressida.
