The majority of Corus' production is in the United Kingdom, where its roots trace back to the former British Steel company, and Hoogovens of The Netherlands. At the end of 2004, Corus, the Anglo-Dutch steel maker formed in 1999 by the merger of Hoovogens of the Netherlands and British Steel, saw a modest fall in its share price following fears that lower consumption and increased production of steel in China could lead to global oversupply. The WTO ruled against the United States in a similar case involving former British Steel, now part of the Dutch-Anglo group Cours. |
