VALENCIA -- College of the Canyons officials had some misgivings before offering two online classes this semester: British Literature and American Literature. The sophomore level British literature survey draw students from throughout the university, most of whom are fulfilling a general education or English major or minor requirement, and these students bring a wide range of abilities and comfort levels with interpreting texts to the classroom. The fact is, however, that most English departments--and they are still "English" departments--would never think of reducing the British literature survey to a single term. |
