US baseball player. He was an outfielder for the St Louis Cardinals, who stole a record total of 938 bases.

He was born in Hamilton, Illinois. He played in the Hall of Fame 1961-79. His bases record stood until Rickey Henderson surpassed it in 1991. He had 3,023 hits.
