Brock, Thomas

    0.13 sec.

Brock, Thomas (1847-1922)

English sculptor who created the memorial to Queen Victoria in front of Buckingham Palace. He built a successful career as a portraitist, executing a bronze bust of the artist Lord Leighton 1873 and a marble one of Queen Victoria 1901.

Brocks was born in Worcester. He became a pupil of John Henry Foley, and afterwards his assistant. He produced numerous equestrian statues, memorials (including a bust of the US poet Longfellow in Westminster Abbey), and portraits, all his works being prized by his contemporaries for their dignity and refinement.
