Brocton

Community in Portland township, western New York, just south of Lake Erie, 40 km/25 mi northwest of Jamestown; population (1990) 1,400. It lies in a wine-producing region and is an agricultural trade and processing centre.

It was the headquarters (1867–83) of Thomas Lake Harris's mystical Brotherhood of the New Life, which moved here from Amenia.
