Brokaw, Tom

Brokaw, (Thomas John) Tom (1940– )

US television anchor. As the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) Washington correspondent 1973–76, he covered the Watergate scandal. In 1976 he became Today show host, leaving in 1982 to become anchor of the NBC nightly news. He resigned as NBC news anchor in 2004.

He was born in Webster, South Dakota and started as a radio reporter in college. He worked in television in Omaha and in Atlanta. He was KNBC late-night anchor in Los Angeles 1965–73.
