    0.01 sec.

Brooks, (Troyal) Garth (1962– )

US country singer. His singles have topped both country and pop charts. Though criticized by country music purists, his pop-influenced brand of country music has popularized the genre to a mainstream audience. His albums include Garth Brooks (1989), No Fences (1990), Ropin' The Wind (1991), The Chase (1992), Fresh Horses (1995), Sevens (1997), Double Live (1998), and In the Life of Chris Gaines (1999).

Brooks was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and began singing in bars and clubs while he was a student at Oklahoma State University. He moved to Nashville in the mid-1980s and was signed by Capitol Records.
