Brosnan, Pierce

    0.02 sec.

Brosnan, Pierce (1953– )

Irish actor known for his suave and sophisticated screen presence, a persona cultivated in the successful television series Remington Steele (1982–87). In Goldeneye (1995), he became the fifth actor to play the role of secret agent James Bond in the ongoing series of Bond films, and he went on to play Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002).

Brosnan's other films include The Lawnmower Man (1992), Dante's Peak (1997), and The Tailor of Panama (2001).

As a young actor, Brosnan struggled to make his mark despite extensive London stage experience. He was first offered the role of James Bond in 1986, but turned it down owing to his television commitments.
