Brothers, Joyce (born Joyce Diane Bauer) (1927– )

US psychologist, television and radio personality. Over the years she dispensed advice on popular psychology via appearances on radio and television and a syndicated newspaper column. Her books include How to Get Whatever You Want Out of Life (1979) and What Every Woman Should Know About Men (1982).

She was born in New York City. She gained a PhD in psychology from Columbia University in 1953. She first appeared on the $64,000 Question in 1955 and the $64,000 Challenge in 1956. She soon had her own Dr. Joyce Brothers radio advice programme 1958–63.
