Brown, Donald D (David) (1931- )

US developmental biologist. He made major contributions to studies of RNA synthesis as a direct indicator of gene activity, the control of genes during development, and the isolation of genes.

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. After receiving several research fellowships, he joined the Carnegie Institution in 1961, and later served as a professor at Johns Hopkins in 1969.
