Brownfield

City and administrative headquarters of Terry County, western Texas, 61 km/38 mi southwest of Lubbock; population (2000) 9,500. It is a trade and processing centre in a rich irrigated area that grows grains, peanuts, and cotton, and raises cattle. It is also an oilfield service centre.
