Brunnow, Franz Friedrich Ernst (1821–1891)

German astronomer. His chief publication, Lehrbuch der sphärischen Astronomie, which he also translated into English, was for many years a standard textbook.

He was born in Berlin and educated at Berlin University. After several years at the Düsseldorf and Berlin observatories in Germany and the Ann Arbor and Dudley observatories in the USA, he was appointed professor of astronomy at Dublin University and Astronomer Royal of Ireland 1865.
