Bruscantini, Sesto (1919- )

Italian bass-baritone. Having originally studied law, he turned to singing and made his debut at La Scala, Milan, in 1949 in Il Matrimonio segreto/The Clandestine Marriage. He was principally known as a buffo singer: he appeared at Glyndebourne 1951-61 as Alfonso, Guglielmo, Dandini, both Figaros, and Leporello. From 1962 he sang Verdi, and in 1990 he sang at the Macerata Festival, as Don Alfonso in Mozart's Così fan tutte/Thus Do All Women.
